BEIJING, Jul 01, 2009 (Xinhua via COMTEX)China Unicom (0762.HK; CHU.NYSE) and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Government signed a cooperation framework agreement on Tuesday, promising an investment of 10 billion yuan in the forthcoming five years to boost the regions construction of 3G mobile networks and broadband networks.
Three million yuan would be appropriated to Guangxi in southwest China this year.
The two sides agreed to launch further cooperation in boosting the industrialization and informatization integration, developing and applying information resources, and accelerating the establishment in such fields as e-commerce, e-government, public information platform, communication resource sharing, and professional information service.
China Unicom vowed to boost construction of mobile networks in Guangxi, and have the networks cover major areas of the region by the end of this year, and expand the construction of mobile and broadband networks to establish an urban comprehensive information system.
